  • SB 19 (2023) established California’s Fentanyl Task Force, bringing together state and local leaders to combat the growing fentanyl crisis. 
  • SB 67 (2023) implemented real-time overdose tracking to help first responders save lives. 
  • SB 78 (2025) works to improve roadway safety and reduce dangerous project delays across the state. 
  • SB 602 (2023) strengthened tools for law enforcement and property owners to address trespassing and criminal activity. 
  • SB 86 (2023) requires a comprehensive website that provides crime victims with easy access to essential information and services. This is an expansion of Marsy’s Law (2008).
  • AB 1968 (2022) requires CSU and UC campuses to make sexual assault resources easier to find, ensuring victims can quickly access critical support when they need it most.

A longtime advocate for those who serve, Senator Seyarto has championed policies that honor and support our Veterans:

  • SB 67 (2025) expanded Cal Grant eligibility for dependents of active-duty military members stationed outside California. 
  • SB 82 (2023) ensured fair and consistent access to disabled Veterans’ property tax exemptions. 
  • SB 920 (2024) supports military families by continuing the Purple Star School Program, helping children navigate the challenges of frequent relocations and deployments.
  • AB 1633 (2022) improved coordination to connect student Veterans with critical benefits and services. 


Major Win: After years of advocacy, Senator Seyarto helped secure tax relief for Veterans and surviving spouses, allowing up to $20,000 of military retirement or Survivor Benefit Plan income to be excluded from state taxes each year.

  • SB 259 (2023) requires state agencies to post reports submitted to the Legislature online, making important public information easier to access.
  • SB 978 (2024) made California’s state budget more accessible and easier for the public to understand.
